WHY DO YOU NEED TO  TRAIN YOUR EMPLOYEES IN HEALTH AND SAFETY?

Occupational Health and Safety Inspectors are visiting Companies countrywide to check their compliance with the occupational health and safety Act. Failure to comply can result in a criminal offence.

 Here are just a few of the questions you might have to answer if an OHS Inspector inspects your workplace:

• Are you registered with the Department of Labour with regard to the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act?

• Do you have a copy of the Occupational Health and Safety Act on the premises and is the Act available to the workers?

• Have you appointed Health and Safety Representatives?

• Have you established Health and Safety Committees in the workplace?

• Do you have fully equipped first aid boxes on the premises?

• Are you and your workers trained to recognize Health and Safety problems?

            If there is any area where you answered no, it could mean that you fail to comply.
